At 1:15 today the parking lot was full of volunteer cars at Mary H. Wright Elementary school. As I walked in the door it was booming with excitement as children waited for the volunteer selected to help give the party for their class. The children were SO CUTE as they waited patiently with their hand-made signs to indicate the name of their teacher. This was the first class party of the year and what fun it was.
After everyone had made it to their classes, I had the opportunity to peak in as mummy games were being played and Bingo was being yelled! The sweet and salty treats of orange and black were excitedly being inhaled and it was a great thing to watch. I am so grateful for our volunteers who bring so much joy into these kids lives! It is a blessings to be a part of such a vibrant ministry of loving on children!

The picture above is of me with my son when we were on our church mission team last year in Quito, Ecuador. It is something that helps me to remember how important it is to serve as a family and shine Christ's light in all places.
I am hoping as I begin this website and blog it will be a place that our church family can learn about what it means to serve in out community and beyond. I pray that it will encourage us to step out of the ordinary into the extraordinary and have life changing experiences that will help others and transform our own lives. There is no greater task we have than serving others and I am so excited to do the work I do as Director of Outreach and Missions at the Episcopal Church of the Advent. |
